To know where you belong is one thing. Accepting it like refusing to run when the rain comes, but letting it wash you is another whole thing.
Looking at his watch one last time, his patience having run out, he stood up to leave. As he rushed out, he bumped into his prospective client almost driving him to the ground.
"I'm sorry, where are you rushing to? I thought we had a meeting!"
"I'm sorry too, but you are late and I have another appointment." Almost taking off, he shouted back, "please call to reschedule."
...
"Where are you at? I'm at the door."
"Come in. I'm seated at the farthest corner from the door to your right."
She had been sitting there for the past hour with nothing but silence filling her ears. Like she was trying to hide her vulnerability in the darkness. She sat there looking at the photos of him he'd sent her. The last few weeks had been pretty intense for her. She couldn't bring herself to stop thinking about him. He'd taken over her thoughts every morning... Every night and any time in between. Every day she wished she could roll up the distance like a string and find him at the end of it.
"Hello Rose!" He said standing next to her.
She stood to receive him with a warm hug inhe process capturing his nose unaware with a sweet pleasant smell that knocked at his heart and pulled him with a strong rope. Her curves defining the loveliest distance between two points. Like the blossoms of flowers, she bathes in beauty.
"Hello Andrew! What took you so long?"
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting."
What was he going to say to her! He wondered. After all those long conversations on phone. All those midnight and 2am calls. All that texting. It surely would've been easier for him only if he was behind a screen. Now, he sat across from her. Looking into her eyes, eyes of so much love. She smiled and in her smile he saw colors of her love.
"Are you not going to say anything?" She asked with a tease. "Give me your hand," she said stretching her right hand across the table. "You know what?" She asked giving him that disarming smile whilst rubbing the back of his palm.
"What!"
"All these time, all I ever wanted was to reach out and touch you, feel your hands held in mine."
Please touch me like its the last time and you want it to haunt me. He tried hard to supress that thought.
"I've also been yearning to touch you and touch you not just with my hands but with my heart."
Three coffee cups down the line and after sharing their life and love stories, it was clear that they had both been involved in abusive relationships. Emotionally and mentally abusive relationships.
"How I wish I could tear my skin away to show you the scars unseen. For you to see how my heart has been beaten and battered, stomped, forgotten and worst of all, ripped apart. If only you could see the story of my heart, yours would cry for mine." Almost shedding a tear, "how I wish you could see how scared I am that someone might hurt me again, promise me of his love and then leave me in pain. Will you play for a while then leave me alone?"
Silence.
Him searching for the right words to match the weight of the question that was laid before him.
"Having spent this little time with you, away from the internet and the screens, I can say that you're different. You don't see the world as others do. Your dreams, for one, are too big. I understand you're scared and I'm no different. I've fallen once in this crime, but I don't want to fail this time. I want to be the ears that can understand your energy. I want to decorate the space in your mind and furnish the thoughts on your mental. Together, we can make it through the scars without saying goodbye. We can make it to the stars without asking why."
At the corner of his eye, he catches a glimpse of a couple being cosy. He couldn't help but stare. For a moment, he reminisces. The good times they were.
"I'll be completely honest," she interrupted his session of reminisce, "I'm overcome with fear. I'm terrified of love because it only brings me tears. I'm clinging to my heart, afraid of handing it over to you, because I fear that like the others, you'll just crush it too."
The worst part about falling out of love is wondering if you'll ever open up that far again. When the one person with whom you completely opened up to is the person who later completely betrayed you. They being an unforseen storm and you collateral damage left in their path. The pain that comes with the realization that your love was nothing but a myth.
"I still taste of heartache and war and wouldn't wish the same for anyone. For what I thought was love was just us fondly driving each other insane. But ever since we first spoke, I've had this feeling deep within my soul. Each day, the call becomes louder. Ever since, all I want is to understand you...to understand us. I want you to open up your heart to me, show me your mind, let me see your soul... I want you to confide in me for I'll be here to keep your secrets, to take you away from the pain people have caused you and I. I want my answer when anyone asks who I think of when I think of love to be...you."
With a smirk she says, "I try not to believe the words you say just in case. But they fo straight to my heart and stay there. I know you've been hurt, maybe even cried tears just like mine but that doesn't help me to trust, to be strong. Nevertheless, with you I hope to be happy. With you I hope there will be no pain but more and more love and trust to be gained. Will you love me enough that I may be weak with you? True, everyone loves strength, but will you love me for my weakness? Please tell me you love me, but only if you're true."
Like a banana, the best part of her was on the inside and like a stone he had fallen. He'd been given the chance to please her heart.
"We both know that love can be blind and that you have to fight harder to keep it in line, but my love for you is a patient love." He cleared his throat. "Love that holds your hand when you need to learn to walk again. Love that lets go of your hand and allows you to bloom on your own so you can learn how to love yourself again."
At that moment she crumbled, giving up her heart, unchaining her soul. She looked him in the eye and he knew for sure, he was the one. Her prince charming, her love incarnate, the hercules of her heart who rescued her soul from the fear of love.
Looking at his watch one last time, his patience having run out, he stood up to leave. As he rushed out, he bumped into his prospective client almost driving him to the ground.
